• 1990s - friends started calling him Talage, a play on his middle name, Talmage.
• 2004 - Enrolled at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
• 2005 - Began using the Talage name in the online community.
• Summer 2005 - Interned at The Shodor Foundation, a computational science education non-profit, in Durham, NC.
• 2006 - Registered the Talage.com domain for use in his online brand as a software engineer and online personality.
• 2006 - Expanded interests into the business and finance realms (adding business administration as a second major)
• Spring 2006 - Interned at Kadro Solutions in Raleigh, NC.
• Summer 2006 - Interned at The Shodor Foundation for a second summer.
• Summer 2007 - Interned at Cerner, a health information technology services company, in Kansas City, MO.
• Spring 2008 - Interned at Advanced Energy in Raleigh, NC, working on PHP/MySql based applications.
• Summer 2008 - Interned at a redacted financial services company.
• Fall 2008 - Begin working part-time for FatCat Strategies, a marketing firm in Raleigh, NC
• 2009 - graduated from NC State University with:
  • B.S. in Computer Science
  • B.S. in Business Administration (with a concentration in finance)
• 2009 - Accepted first full-time job offer from Vanguard in Charlotte, NC. As a major company in the financial services industry, this fit perfectly with Talage's background in computer science and finance.
• 2011 - After seeking out new challenges, Talage accepted an offer to move to Hawkeye, a marketing company located in Charlotte, NC

Talage is the online moniker, nickname, chat handle, and more of Joseph Talmage Patrick. This web page is all about the name and the man behind the name.

A Brief Introduction To Talage

Talage is a software engineer and small business owner. He and his wife reside in Raleigh, NC with their two dogs, Teva and Scout, and Gus, the cat.

History of the Name and Domain

• 1990s - Talage was first used as a nickname in the 90s by a close friend.
• 2000s - As early as March, 2005, I begin registering the name as my online persona in public internet forums such as The Wolf Web.
• 2006 - I established this website in April of 2006 as a way of sharing information about myself and my interests and pursuits.
• 2007 - After lurking for a few years, I became an active part of The Wolf Web community, making my first post on March 9, 2007. You can still see my first post here: Talage's First Post.
• Late 2010s - At some point in the last couple of years, the hosting company I was using to host my site decomissioned the servers it had been on since ~2006, but didn't automatically copy my content over. For a while users only saw a "coming soon" type page. Since discovering that issue, I started thinking about how to best redesign the old webiste and make it fit better in this decade.
• 2019 - MVP of my refreshed website is launched.
  (Note: MVP stands for Minimum Viable Product, and is basically tech jargon for: good enough to launch, but we're going to make it better later.).

Interesting Note: To see previous iterations of this site, you can visit the WayBack machine, an internet archive site. They have archived the website going as far back as 2011 (Warning: the design was especially cringe worthy back then).
